People of Oke Iya community in Akure on Friday called on the deji of akure ,Oba Aladetoyinbo Aladelusi to remove their traditional ruler ,and Olu of oke iya, Oba Gabriel Oloruntoba over alleged high handedness.
The People who are mostly youths and a few elders protested to the palace of Deji of Akure with different placards and chanting of songs said they could no longer accept chief Oloruntoba as the Olu of Oke Iya due to various allegations leveled against him.
Some of the protesters who spoke with ROVING REPORTERS Messrs Adesoye Oluwatoye and Boluwaji Ogundele explained that there had not been peace in the community for the past two years as chief Oloruntoba was alleged to be threatening residents of Oke Iya with thugs while he sold lands illegally.
Reacting, the Olu of Oke Iya, Chief Oloruntoba described all allegations against him as efforts by some elders in the community to unseat him.
Addressing the protesters ,Oba Aladelusi promised to commence investigation into the matter.
The Monarch however added that he would not hesitate to remove the Olu of Oke Iya if found guilty as he would not force any Chiefs to rule any Community.
