Prof. Lucky Afinotan

A professor of political Science,Lucky Afinotan has called on the federal government to reformulate its foreign policy towards protecting the interests of Nigerians.

Professor Afinotan Stated this while delivering the inaugural lecture which was the Ninth edition,titled CONCENTRICISM AND FOREIGN POLICY: NIGERIA IN THE 21ST CENTURY.

In a lecture of one hundred and twenty-three pages,professor Lucky AFinotan pointed out that Nigeria’s foreign policy,had over the years been focusing on developing neighbouring African countries at the expense of her own people

Professor Afinotan Explained that Nigeria’s superiority among other African nations as well as her impact on other countries had not been reciprocated .

According to Him, If Nigeria must continue to defend the interest of African state,Nigeria’s interest must also be defended by others in return.

Professor Afinotan who described Nigeria’s foreign policy as ‘Mumuism’ as level of poverty was still on the high side, said it was high time the federal government engaged technocrats to reconceptualise its policies for the benefit of Nigerian people.

In a remark,the vice chancellor ,Joseph Ayo babalola university,Professor Taiwo Olowokure urged the government to take issues of national interest
important and complement scholars’ efforts to ensure that Nigeria was a better place to live
