Rt. Hon. Taofiq Abdusalam
The recently sacked commissioner for Works and Infrastructures, Rt. Hon. Taofiq Abdusalam on Tuesday said he remains a loyal party member of the All Progressive Congress, APC despite his sudden removal from the state executive council.
Hon. Abdusalam in a chat with ROVING REPORTERS said “Am a party man to d core. ”
Ondo State governor ,Oluwarotimi Akeredolu had, on Monday ,sacked three of his commissioners, Prince Solagbade Amodeni of the Ministry of Physical Planning and Urban Development, Rt. Hon. Taofiq Abdusalam of the Ministry of Works and Infrastructures as well as Alhaji Ismaila Olurimisi of the Ministry of Culture.
Akeredolu also directed them to handover all government’s property in their possession to the Permanent Secretaries of their respective ministries.
Abdulsalam, a former speaker, Ondo house of assembly, however ,said he was not surprised over his removal.
“I know from the day I was appointed that I will leave one day. Mr Governor holds the power to appoint and remove.
I don’t need to be in position to serve the party,APC. Position is a privilege. ”
Asked if he was informed before his removal as a commissioner, Abdulsalam said “ Governor needs not now. ”
The former commissioner who claimed he was yet to know the reason ,Akeredolu removed him denied rumours that it was because of his romance with an aspirant in the last governorship primary of APC and kinsman , Olusegun Abraham.
Abdulsalam said “ Nope. Am not close to him( Segun Abraham ) but we re from same place. Same quarters in ikare–Akoko.”
