An NPOWER beneficiary , Gabriel Foluso has expressed worries over the bad condition at which primary schools pupils learn in Akure, the Ondo state capital, calling on governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu to intervene.
Gabriel who is, an NPower beneficiary and, teaching at Oba-Afunbiowo Community Model Pry School pointed out that the learning condition in the school was disheartening.
He was reacting to a twitter post of Akeredolu that had earlier commended the Federal government for allowing Ondo state to access UBEC funds to rehabilitate over 500 primary schools.
Akeredolu on Saturday said “The result of this action is evident. Over 500 primary schools have been touched with another 200+ still ongoing completion.
We are not just talking. We are doing. States not accessing the UBEC funds are missing out on so much.
We would not be able to achieve our massive renovation and construction feats if not for UBEC.
Upon inception of our govt, we immediately provided counterpart finding for 2014 – 2017 UBEC years.
We just got approval for 2018-2019. #DevelopOndo.” Akeredolu said.
Gabriel however commented saying “Thanks for all these sir. I am now using this uncommon opportunity to call on you to intervene in the situation of Oba-Afunbiowo Community Model Pry School where I am attached as an Npower Beneficiary.
The school roofings are in bad shape. During rain, the pupils always get soaked.
Their books also get soaked. I am just pleading on their behalf.
What the school needs now is never a total renovation but minor patching to make the school a conducive environment for learning.
I will be glad, if prompt attention is given. Thanks, one of your die-hard supporter. ” Gabriel said.
