The Executive Director (Engineering and Technical Services) at the Niger Delta Power Holding Company Limited, Engr. Ifeoluwa Oyedele has debunked the news making the round that he has announced his intention to contest the governorship of Ondo State next year.
Oyedele made this clarification in Abuja while speaking with newsmen. He said that the newspaper that published the news of his expression of interest in Ondo 2020 gubernatorial race must have given a wrong interpretation to his current active media presence. He added that there was no time he ever announced at any forum that he would contest the 2020 governorship in Ondo State. He denied granting any interview to journalists in Akure as claimed by Bola Ojuola of Daily Trust.
“Let me reiterate that I did not tell anyone that I would run for governor in Ondo state next. This is perhaps a misrepresentation of my recent active presence in the media. It is on record that I recently sponsored radio jingles to congratulate all elected candidates on the platform of APC in Ondo State from the National Assembly to members of the State House of Assembly”, said Oyedele.
Oyedele further said that it was not in his character to engage in jumping political gun. He however expressed joy for the success of APC in the State House of Assembly elections and the overwhelming victory necessitated the need for him to have congratulated Governor Akeredolu and expressed gratitude for the support given to the Governor by citizens of the State on radio and television advertisements. Meanwhile, Oyedele lamented that the newspaper publication may have been intended to pitch him against Governor Akeredolu and to probably cause disaffection between him and the Governor.
Engr. Oyedele however declared that he remains a loyal member of the All Progressive Congress (APC) and would not be deterred from working assiduously for the success of party at the State and national levels.
