ROVING REPORTERS who went round the city observed that waste has been left unattended to at the hearts of akure such as Oba Adesida road, Ondo road , Arakale road, isikan areas as well as most parts of the state capital.
Some waste dumped at road Midian has also been dropping on the road as vehicles cross over them with serious odour emitting out.
It was gathered that waste disposal trucks have stopped coming to many areas for over three weeks, a development that made residents to drop their wastes on the roads .
Some residents who spoke with our correspondent lamented the lackadaisical attitude of those in charge of waste disposal and management in the state.
They expressed worries that the uncollected Waste posed a threat to their health and the environment, hence the need for appropriate authority to commence clean up exercise.
In a reaction , the commissioner for environment ,Mr Funso Esan said the residents would have to wait till Monday before action could be taken over the ugly development.
He said “By Monday, we will start clearing it. The company clearing it is short of funds because we have some outstanding which we are trying to clear and by Monday ,we will be back to work. Nothing more than that. ”
